Friday Roundup | 11/7/2025

For a while now I’ve been exploring the idea of living a life that feels full but not busy. This week feels like an approach to that ideal! I’m settling into the believed that there's time for everything that I’ve set out to do, and suddenly there's time with more to spare. Here’s the highlights:

The Rundown

  • Saturday, November 1: 3.1 miles. 363 ft. 37m 23s. My legs were heavy today. I'm not sure if it's the hilly 4-miler on Thursday that did it or the inordinate amount of candy that I ate last night. Sampa was dragging today too, so I'm going to blame Thursday’s run. Regardless, my calves are sore and I felt generally sluggish. Hopefully I worked through that today and tomorrow feels better.

  • Sunday, November 2: 4 miles. 877 ft. 1h 8m. It should be noted that the part of my body that got the most sore on this run are my shoulders. I gotta do more runs with Sampa offleash so I can pump my arms better, they are painfully out of practice. I didn’t really mean to go this far, but the run felt so good that I just couldn’t bring myself to turn around any sooner.

  • Monday, November 3: 4.19m. 524 ft. 56m 17s. Back to back 4-milers did a number on my calves. Worth every step to be running in community.

  • Tuesday, November 4: 1.56m. 173 ft. 16m 2s. Finally! A recovery run. Took everything at a gentle pace to shake it all out.

  • Wednesday, November 5: 1.56m. 177 ft. 14m 56s. This was a quick run for me! Since I’ve started back into daily running, I’ve been sitting around a 12- to 15-minute mile pace. But today, my first mile split was 9:29 and I was running an 8:24-pace for the final half! As it turns out, both Sampa and I have a much better flow to our run when she’s offleash. Also this pace felt very hard.

  • Thursday, November 6: 1.53m. 182 ft. 16m. 16s. Another recovery run. Less of a workout, more of a meditation.

  • Friday, November 7: Rest day. I’m focusing on using today as a big stretch out day and doing lots of rolling out for my feet, who seem to be the most resistant to my increased mileage.

  • Bonus: Check out my Strava summary for October! I didn’t know Strava did this, but you know this is a whole new layer of motivation for me.

What I’m Making

  • I’ve had my eye on the Loom Sweater by Ruthemann Design as a pattern I’d like to knit for my husband for a good while. I love a boring stockinette in the round pattern because it gives me something to do with my hands when I’ve got something else occupying my brain, but I like to create something with visual interest. This pattern has a pop with the “woven” stitches, but is otherwise very straightforward. Just my kind of pattern. And now that I’ve finally finished my daughter’s sweater, I’m finally ready to jump into it! I just bought the pattern and will be order the yarn over the weekend, once I settle on a color. Now to figure out what to do with myself while I wait for shipping…
