Tidings of Community and Joy
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Women of the Wasatch is the gift of all gifts.
Tonight was the first of the speaker series that WOW puts on through the winters. We all met together for a trail run, then gathered for a presentation from Nike Pro Athlete and world-class trail runner Rachel Drake. To give you a sense, she’s three months postpartum and absolutely kicked my trash. It was a leisurely pace for her. I lasted a maximum of five minutes before dropping very far back. But honestly, what an honor to share a trail with her tonight.
I always love a chance to hear someone’s life story, to learn more about what led them to the moment that they’re in today. (Memoirs are my very favorite genre!) And it felt so good to hear Rachel reaching similar conclusions that I’ve felt calling to me. Most especially, that prioritizing joy and community is where it’s at, and the rest will fall into place.
I can’t tell you how deeply I love being in a room full of runners. I feel so at home. I feel inspired and hopeful and strong! I feel like I can do anything.
