Memory Keeping
Resources to support us as we meaningfully compile our stories.
The process of personal memory keeping has been deeply valuable to me. Taking the time to reflect on life events as they happen help me to make sense of them, and looking back gives me a greater sense of my journey as a whole. The work that I’ve put into memory keeping has also held a deep significance for my kids, even at a very young age. Below are a few resources that support the journey and help streamline the process.
Classes
Family Films with Sam: I always loved the idea of video editing but felt totally overwhelmed by all the moving parts. This is a self-study class that brought me from too scared to start to making treasured family films that we love watching together. And the best part is that she genuinely makes it feel easy.
Mine to Tell: Courses on personal narrative writing and related topics. I took the original live Mine to Tell class a few years ago and it was unbelievably beautiful. The two instructors hold such grace and love for the vulnerable journey of writing—especially of personal narrative writing—and I was amazed at the way that they created a space that was so safe while also offering direction for improvement. I’m not sure how frequently they run the live course, but they also have several incredible self-paced options here as well.
Photography: This is an entire post dedicated to my favorite photography classes and resources.

Day One: Journaling app with a built-in, easy to order way to print into a beautiful book. You can also export PDF files to save and backup everything on your own device. I’ve been using this for years and I love it.
